Polymer Paradise Clay Workshops

While you cruise in luxury, you'll have a chance to take workshops with some of the most talented and world renowned polymer clay artists around.

Beginners will learn tips and techniques that will advance their clay skills at an unbelievably accelerated pace in just a few short days. More experienced clayers with get the chance to learn new techniques and tips that will take their creativity to new heights and jumpstart their artistic energy. Those wishing to try their hand at metal clay will get to create a project and learn the basics at in our incredible "Taste of Art Clay Silver" workshop.

If all this isn't enough, those wishing to "clay around" some more can attend one of the many free demonstrations or play in our clay workroom on days in port.

Each participant will receive a "Goodie" bag filled with class supplies and product samples valued at over $200, exceeding the cost of the workshop package. There will also be special events, goodies, and giveaways galore. Come make new friends and create memories (literally) that will last a lifetime!

 

  Polymer Clay ATCs and ATTs with Lisa Pavelka

Learn how to create incredible mini canvases to keep, trade, or give as gifts. Artist Trading Cards and Artist Trading Tags are a unique and exciting way to showcase memories while making an artistic statement. You'll work with mixed-media concepts to complete 1 or more tags or trading cards. Techniques including image transfer, layout, and surface treatment will be covered. Also included will be methods for creating variations that can turn these mini masterpieces into functional works of art. An informal show and tell showcase and trading card party will be held near the end of our cruise adventure. Read about Lisa.

 

  Shaped Inro Pendant with Jana Roberts Benzon

In this class, you will learn to create polymer clay "Inros" (a wearable vessel originating from the Far East) in a variety of shapes using a new and ingenious technique that will leave others mystified as to how you created its unique shape. Jana will guide you from initial construction to finishing. Last but not least, you will learn to achieve a glassy finish without the use of varnishes or glazes and with little or no buffing! Bring a pre-made millefioricane design of your choice (beginners will have canes provided for them). Read about Jana.

 

  Cosmic Bead Jewelry with Anne Igou

Explore the use of metallic paint and Polymer Clay foil to add beautiful inclusions and character to your Polymer Clay. Workshop participants will learn how to physically manipulate these materials in clay to create beautiful Cosmic beads. Participants will also learn how to use these beads to make an elegant pendant and a key chain. In addition, Anne will provide a detailed hands-on tutorial on wire wrapping, the construction of jump rings and the use of chain and other components to create your finished masterpiece. Translucent Cane Pendant with Klew

Students will learn how to create a variety of translucent canes (horizontal rods of clay that have a distinct pattern running through the length). Klew's unique beads are recognized throughout the world. Learn the secrets from a polymer icon, for successful layering and bead shaping in order to create a unique and elegant pendant. An overview of sanding and finishing methods will be covered in addition to stringing and suspension ideas for the finished pendant and future projects. Read about Karen.

 

  A Taste of Art Clay Silver with Jackie Truty

Learn everything you need to create a small, fine silver, lidded box, perfect for the Tooth Fairy or your favorite incense or keepsake. Discover how to imbed tiny gemstones or attach silver appliqué and embellish with polymer clay. There are options galore, including using open filigree, weaving, and braiding...all with Art Clay Silver. Firing will turn the boxes, magically, from clay to fine silver which will allow participants to try their hand at this amazing medium without the upfront investment of a kiln. Those who had some experience in the medium will learn tips and techniques from the leading expert in the field. Students can choose to finish their completed box with polymer clay in the workroom or when at home. Read about Jackie.
